Where Are We

Powerful Words

People were just living their lives the best that they knew how. Naive and trusting. Most being the best citizens that they could be. Getting their educations, applying for work, setting up their families, homes, and creating their dreams in their small area on Earth. We were taught that we were living in a democracy. Voting for the right candidates would keep our little worlds secure. Of course if our votes went to other Americans just like ourselves, what could go wrong? 

Our televisions beamed to us about atrocities happening all around the world. We were proud. At least we lived in a country where those things didn't happen. We were lying to ourselves and didn't even know it. We felt our hearts sink when hearing of the pain and suffering of those living around the world and we were lead to believe that our government was doing the best that it could to help those people. We didn't have to do anything but vote and pay taxes. "They" would take care of the rest. We slept good at night. 

While we were sleeping, a monster crept into the deep crevices of our government. Almost nobody noticed. Those who did were thought of as insane "Conspiracy Theorists". We had our scapegoat. We didn't need to investigate or do anything because of course our government is always right. If they thought those Conspiracy Theorists were crazy, then of course that is what they were. 

Corporations started receiving orders to target certain individuals in their workplace. They were told whatever they needed to be told in order to get them to comply. If you find nothing bad on the target, then make something up they were advised. But this is still the United States with liberty, freedom, and justice for all right? Many Americans did not see that what they were being asked to do was destroy their own country by targeting these innocent civilians. They couldn't deal with the iron-clad cognitive dissonance they were experiencing if they thought at all about what they were doing. They just did it. Just did as they were told because the government is always correct. The television told them so and that is all they needed to know. 

People started complaining about finding out that they were microchipped. Some were experiencing odd occurrences such as hallucinations, hearing voices, having vivid dreams and nightmares. Americans read about these stories online but you know you can't believe everything you hear on the internet, right? These folks must be a part of that gang called Conspiracy Theorists again. Wow, they thought. This insanity is larger than I thought. Thank goodness the government is getting more and more controlling or this craziness could get out of hand. 

The news keeps reporting about horrific shootings happening all around the country. Never mind that the Navy Yard shooter had carved the words, "My ELF weapon" on the side of his firearm. What does ELF stand for? Ah, never mind. The government will figure all of that out. After all, that is their job. 

Now more crazies are claiming that the government is trying to crack down with gun control in America. Of course they are! Can't these people see that people keep shooting up the place? I guess if I had researched what an ELF weapon is, then I might be connecting the dots that exist between the government and these shootings, but I'm just too busy to bother with that. For some reason, the people involved in these incidents are saying things like the government has them under surveillance. I guess paranoia is getting out of hand. 

Think I'll go watch some television tonight and get to sleep early. 

So, that is how the United States of America got destroyed. It only took one word and one phrase: antisemites and conspiracy theory.
